Prayer

According to a recent studies, the average normal American christian prays 2-3 minutes a day.

When I first heard that I was kinda shocked, like seriously - this is what we preach about, study, discuss, lecture, and live - and yet all we can spare in a 24 hour day is 2-3 minutes. What is that - like saying grace for 30 seconds at three meals a day - and then a few second prayer as our head hits the pillow. Yet, as I thought about it - I don't think my life is all that different. Prayer is a struggle for me, and I am sure many christians. Perhaps it is the fact that it is such a personal thing. Like we talk about many things with other christians, "How's your life going, how's your struggles, how's the difficult situation you are in," but seldom do we discuss our prayer lives. I think if we did, many of us would be ashamed at how little time we spend in prayer, I know I would.

It has been said that prayer is the measuring tool of the christian life. That can be quite a scary and sad fact. And as I sat discussing my prayer life with a cell group on Tuesday night, I was convicted that my prayer life needs some drastic changes.
