Dealbreakers
What are your dealbreakers? Do you give a guy two dates, and then if you don't click by that point you refuse further dates? How much do you pour into a relationship, before you walk away and let it fall to ashes? How many times do you forgive?
I asked myself this question as I sat in a new church Sunday morning. The service was good, the people were friendly, the music was tastefully picked.....and then I noticed that they had a woman pastor. And that was my breaking point.
I have a few breaking points in my life, not all of them are logical, but they are the things that I just won't/can't compromise on. I don't always understand them, but I know them - and when certain things happen, I pick up my coat and I move on because these are my dealbreakers.

You'll find the "dealbreakers" you don't understand will be the first to go. Here's the question: how do you affirm something you have no basis for? If they're not logical, why do you hold to them? If you can't explain why you hold to them, why do you not give them up? If you can't give them up, are they not idols?
How do you question something that doesn't have a basis ? rather.. Why question it.
Humans aren't logical.
If you can't explain them, Why attempt to ?
If you can't give them up - it just means they are intertwined in you . it doesn't equate them to idols..

Humans are logical. Everything can be explained. Everything proceeds from some sort of basis that makes at least a kind of sense.
Simply because _you_ don't understand your own base motivations doesn't mean that they are in some way inextricably tied into your being in an unfathomable fashion. This is why we have psychologists, for instance.
Here's the question: if you can't explain things, why bother trying? And the answer is of course that you _must_ understand yourself. You must, you must, you must, you must. To know to what you need, to separate what you need from what you want, to live life successfully.
Not that any one person will succeed at this. But you must try.
