Fiction Piece 1

I am such an idiot she screamed as she paced the room in circles stomping her feet. She just wished that he would get mad, yell at her, tell her she was an idiot, and give her exactly what she deserved. Instead, he sat there staring at her as if any other reaction demanded too much from him in a moment like this. She noticed tears gathering in the corners of his eyes, and she hated herself more then ever before.

He finally opened his mouth to speak, and three words pierced the silence "I am disappointed". She felt like someone had stabbed a burning rod into her stomach, she couldn't breath or see, for white flashes of light were blinding her. She was sure she was going to throw up the piece of pizza she ate three days ago.

He walked towards her, crossing the distance she had meaningfully placed between them. She was unable to look at him; the guilt and remorse flooded her body. He lifted her chin with his finger, and quietly said, "I forgive you".

She reeled back in shock, this wasn't the way it was suppose to be, he couldn't mean what he just said, did he not just remember the words she had uttered to him. A million protests rose to her lips, but as if he knew exactly what she was going to say, he pressed his finger to her lips and said "It doesn't matter, it's over now".

It was then that she collapsed; all the strength that she had been trying to pull together completely left her. She couldn't think, her brain wasn't allowing her to form any coherent thought patterns, there were just his words ringing through her mind "I forgive you, I forgive you, I forgive you" like cool water on a parched soul.

She didn't deserve it, not in any way shape or form, yet he gave it to her despite all that. She could only marvel at what he had done, the unthinkable....he had forgiven her when she needed it most.
