A snowy day in December...
She walked home with the snow falling gently around her...it looked like the set of a movie, she mused to herself. Every time the snow fell like this, she was transported to another time, it was as if a very time warp took place, and she was unable to stop it, even after all these years.
It seemed like just yesterday she had climbed into that car on a snowy winter evening - Sarah Maclachlan as the sound track in the background. They had sped down the highway, which was completely abandoned - making plans for tomorrow and the years that followed it. She remembered the way the snow hit the wind shield, creating a perfect barrier. It was in that moment that the entire world faded into the background, and it was just that very minute she was living.
She never understood why certain moments remained so clear in her mind. Or why when he had died, she could never remember the funeral, or the very crash that had taken his life and spared hers. No, what she remembered was that moment years ago, driving down a highway in the snow, laughing and planning as if the world was theirs for the taking.
The snow had a way of haunting her, keeping her from living today in it's fullness. Sometimes she wanted to hate the snow, and yet she liked living in the past...it was then that she felt the closest to him, and letting go seemed over rated.
